Doctor visits

You can now enter your scheduled doctor visits, list the past and upcoming appointments, choose the doctor from your contact list and add the appointment to your phone calendar.

Before the visit, you can enter the questions you will want to ask in the notes section of the event, and write the answers during the visit.

Quick entry buttons let you easily enter weight, height, and head size measurements, as well as the vaccines given during the visit.

Diary

The diary category allows you to record memorable events. You can upload a picture and enter a long text describing the event.

You can easily browse through all the uploaded photos, or list all the diary entries in chronological order.

Skins

At the bottom of the kid settings page, you can now choose the colors for the background and for the buttons of the home page. This new feature is currently only available on the iPhone Application, it is not yet available on the Android and iPad applications.

We are very pleased to announce that Baby Connect is now available on the Kindle Fire.

The App will synchronize automatically with the others Baby Connect applications for iPhone, iPad, Android and web.

Home Page Customization

You can now choose which button should appear on the home page and remove unwanted icons. You can also choose the number of rows to use (1, 2 or 3). The less row, the more space is available for the summary and recent entries list.

Additional buttons are placed in a separate page accessible via the ‘More…’ button.

If you have several children, you can choose to use the same customization for all kids or a different one for each kid. For instance, you can remove the ‘Nursing’ category for an older kid and replace it with the new ‘Potty’ category, but keep Nursing and Diaper for the new baby.

This feature, new to our iOS apps, was already available on the Android App.

Time since the last event

The time since the last event is clearly shown on each button. It is now much easier to find out when was the event in each categories.

Potty Training

You can now track potty events, record duration and specify optional content description. It is very similar to our diaper category.

Emails

We’ve improve a lot our email capability. You can now choose any time period and not just the current month, and apply a filter to only include a specific category.

Dry Diaper, Diaper Quantity, Solid Food Quantity

A new version 1.1 of our Android Application was also released today with support for Dry Diapers, Diaper Quantity, Solid Food Quantity and Potty Training. It is the first version of the Android App also available in French.

Finally, the Web Application has also been updated with the new Potty category and several new options in the Diaper Category.

Like our iPhone application, you can record nursing, bottle feeding, solid food, pumping, diaper changes, sleep sessions, milestones, activities, mood,upload photos or indicate your location. The Medical section includes temperature, sickness, vaccines, medicines, height, weight and head size growth. Easy to use timers are available for most categories to help measuring events.

Some capabilities are only available on the Android Application and will come soon to the iPhone App. For instance, the home page can be customized and you can remove categories that you’re not using, or change the order of each button on the page. The duration since the last event is also clearly displayed for each category on the home page.

Any event saved on one device will automatically synchronize on the device of others caregivers, whether it is an iPod Touch, an iPhone, an iPad, an Android device or a computer with a browser. For instance a Diaper change event saved on Mom’s iPhone will be synchronized on Dad’s Droid.

Of course, several Graphs are available, as well as growth charts with comparison to US or WHO percentiles. All the Data can also be emailed in html or .csv format for any date range. Push notifications can also be set to be immediately informed of any activity.

New Application Icon.

For a while, we’ve been wanting to change our application icon because the old icon doesn’t encompass all that theapplication is capable of. We’ve also received user feedback also saying the bottle-only icon is too restrictive.

We asked several artists to design a new icon, selected a shortlist, and ask our Facebook and Twitter followers to vote for our next icon.

We received around 100 votes, the winning design is our next icon.

Reminder Alarms

Reminder Alarms was your most requested feature.

You can now enable alarms separately for each category (under settings \ Reminder Alarms), for instance you may choose to enable alarms for Medicines and Feedings, and not for sleep or diaper changes.

After saving an event, you’ll then be asked to set an alarm to remind you of the next event, either at a specific time (at 3:15pm), or using a countdown (in 3 hours).

When it’s time, a notification will be shown on your phone (similar to reminders for the calendar application), even if Baby Connect is not running.

Reminder Alarms are only available on devices with iOS 4.0 or later.

Publish to Facebook

You can now easily publish photos to your Facebook wall. On the iPhone application, you can also publish any event (Milestone, message, ..) to your wall.

Overall Summary

Do you want to know how many diapers you changed since baby was born, or how much milk you gave to baby? The new Summary page now shows the overall statistics for the whole history. Check it out, you’ll find a lot of interesting and funny information here.

Weekly and Monthly Graphs

The graphs are now showing the aggregated values by weeks and by months. It is now much easier to see trends over time. You can also scroll the graphs to view values for the past days, weeks and months.

Notes with Timer

You don’t need anymore to wait that the timer has been stopped before entering a note for the entry. You can now enter a note while the timer is running, the note will be saved with the entry.

The new version is available as a free update on the AppStore.

Growth charts for preemies:

For premature babies, you can now specify a due date different from the birth date. The percentiles calculations for the growth charts will then be based either on the birth date, or on the due date depending on your selection in the application preferences.

Graph Scrolling:

You can now scroll vertically the timeline view and go back in time to view the whole history up to the very first entry. All of the summary charts can also be scrolled horizontally, whether the selected period is weeks, month or year.

To scroll the graphs, just swipe your finger across the screen from left to right on the graphs, or bottom to top on the timeline view.

Browse Photos:

You can now browse all your photos in a slideshow. Just swipe your finger on the screen or tap on the left/right arrows to see the previous or next photo.

In addition, you can now save the photo in your iPhone or iPad local Album, and you can change the title of the photo.

• Fix: The display of the Nursing timer is not cut anymore when the duration exceed 1h.
• Fix: The duration since drop off in the note field of a pick up event is now recalculated when changing the pick up time.
• Fix: The timeline view was offset by 1 hour in some timezones.

We’re setting up today a new Beta Testing User Group. The goal of this group is to provide feedback on new versions before we release those versions to everybody.

How will it work

• A few days before submitting a new version to the AppStore, we will send it to you via email.

• You can install the application on your iPhone, iPod or iPad by dragging the Application Files on iTunes on your computer, then synchronizing your device with your computer.

• While using the new version, you can send us feedback about the new features and bugs you found.

• This program only works for the iPhone and iPad applications. It is not for the Web Application.

What’s in it for you

• We’ll send the version 1 or 2 weeks before submitting to the AppStore. Then it usually takes about one additional week of processing time before it is available for Download. So as a Beta user, you’ll have the bug fixes and the new features 2 weeks before everybody else.

• If you found a bug in the beta version, we can fix it and send you an update the next day. Bugs in the official version will take more time to be fixed (see above, we need at least 1 week to release a new version). If you’re not happy about the beta, you can also always go back to the previous official release from the AppStore.

• You will help improving the product quality. It is more efficient for us to solve design issues and bugs before the product is released, it means we can spend more time improving the product rather than handling support requests.

How can you sign-up

• Send us a Support Request email from the Application. We need to know what type of device you’re using (iPhone or iPad) and their Device IDs. The device ID is included at the bottom of the support email. The beta versions will only work on those devices.

• If you have a new phone after signing up, you need to send us the new device ID of your new phone so we can activate the application for it.

• Space is limited, we can only accommodate 40 beta users for the iPhone Application, and 40 for the iPad app.

• Send us an email if you stop using the product, or don’t want to be a member anymore so we can give your seat to somebody else.
